Art gives people hope

Hello everyone!

I wanted to talk about Art Lifting, which is a great benefit corporation which started on 2013 at Boston by Liz Powers, a Harvard alumni. Powers have being working with homeless and disable people since she was eighteen years old. She notice that there so many talented people in the world and specially in this big cities like Boston and New York where artist end throwing their pieces to the trash because they are not able to sell them and they are even struggling to live in the city and sometimes end up living in the street because they can’t afford to pay for a place to stay.
She create this initiative which is sort of galleries exposition for homeless and disable artist. This corporation gives them a chance to present their work and therefore generating jobs for this artist. As all the galleries there is a curator with experience in art that will estimate if that art meet the requirement and the cost of the piece. These expositions allow artist to meet people that would not only buy their art work at the site but also allow them to create connections necessarily to succeed and sell their art elsewhere.

This initiative have being amazing, because must people that are homeless or disable start losing hope that maybe one day they are going to be able to work as an artist or get a job in general in order to afford the cost of the housing. Although Art Lifting started in Boston now have expanded across the U.S. providing hope and inspiring people. There are now 47 artist that are working with Art Lifting right now and five of them have being already able to gained housing.
